But at least you know the job was done right!

Funny joke and i get the punchline. But man would I ever like to be in complete disagreement on "properly maintained vehicle" and "jiffy lube" being in the same sentence. I worked there in Hs and its nothing but retarded flunkys who have no auto experience at all either learning or jus attempting to perform simple easy service work on your car. The amount of things I saw messed up on customer cars, albeit expensive one at that... I could write a book about it. I despise Jiffy Lube and as a dealer tech, I view Jiffy Lube as a total disservice to the auto service industry. They make money effin up all the easy gravy work leaving reputable garages with headaches.

What I gather from this:

1) By omitting beer, time, money, and energy would be saved - especially in that example.

2) The oil filter was probably tightened too much when installed last. Hand tighten the filter and it will be ok; I've never had to use an oil filter wrench providing I did the last oil change on that vehicle.

3) Use a socket and ratchet to loosen the oil pan drain plug; if you do slip, at least your hand won't hit anything, thus saving your bowling trophies.

4) Why would you place a case of oil under your car? Most of us use the fill hole in the passenger side valve cover to fill the engine with oil. Better yet, buy a 5 qt jug of oil. You can then pour the oil from your drain pan into the empty 5 qt jug and return it to autozone for FREE environmentally-friendly disposal.:flag:

5) Probably don't need to test drive the car, especially if you have been drinking that much beer. Starting the car up and ensuring proper oil pressure and no leaks would probably be sufficient:nice:

MOST IMPORTANTLY: I REALIZE THIS THREAD WAS STARTED AS A JOKE, AND THE ORIGINAL POSTER PROBABLY ISN'T THE AUTHOR OF THE INSTRUCTIONS. I simply responded for those who actually may use those methods of changing oil.

On a side one time in a company vehicle, we got the oil changed at Jiffy Lube. We got about 50 miles away and discovered Oil on the back window of the early 1990's Izuzu Trooper. How that happened, I'm not sure, but I think they forgot the dipstick, although that still doesn't explain the oil on the back window.
