Well I think my 94’ lightning’s alternator might be on its last leg.

I tested my alternator tonight and it read about 30 amps shouldn’t it be reading a constant 45 or high amps????

Anyone got any suggestion on where I can get a direct replacement alternator with the stock 95 amperage????? I’ll regret replacing this with a oreilly or autozone alternator!

I wondered about the testing method as well. A loaded test is required. Or maybe you're using an inductive meter to see idle output.

As far as the 3G, PA-P and Alterstart are two common choices for getting higher output 3G alts. You do have to do a little modification on a mustang to make them work (I don't know much about Lightnings).

Good luck.

You don't really go by amps as the alt will only output the amps needed.

Go by the voltage instead. If it's putting out 12V at idle and 14.4V+ above idle then it's putting out the proper juice.

Could be a junk battery causing a drain or short or just not holding the charge
