So how much time should you pick up switching to 4:10s with a stick???? I was guessing 2/10ths of a second. For those of you who have made the change, what do you think.

Further with the following mods,

4:10's
Cat Back
CAI
And a Tune at GRC

What should I expect RWHP and 1/4 assuming I can drive (which may be a bs assumption)

I know that all cars and drivers are different

How much difference would nice sticky 275's make???

PS I'm still torn beteen a 06 stang and my buddies s351r. I can't make up my mind for poop.

How much I have to spend and how much I affect reliability to properly mod an 06 is a real factor. I'm giving myself one more month to pull some sort of trigger.

I just finished installing 4.10s in my car last night. I didn't take it to a shop, I had a buddy of mine who has done it before help. I have to say though, if I had known what 4.10s would feel like I may have gone with 4.30s. But no way I'm changing them now after 2 days of working on my car. I can't say how much they took off my 1/4, but I can certainly say there is a whole lot more of a put my pants in my seat feeling when I'm at wot :D

410 gears are already pretty radical for our Auto 5 speeds, the manual guys should probably be looking at a 430 or a radical 456 rear.

My 410s will go in soon and Im sure they are good for a .2 - .5 in the 1320.

I'll be able to testify to what they can improve upon in another 10 days. I'll post here or make a new thread on my results. :nice:

No,,410's are "not" too radical.I went from 273's to 410's in my 5.0 4 speed auto..Going from 331's to 410's in a 5 speed auto,which motors breath's 10 times better then a 1993 5.0 is not radical at all..Im actually thinking 456's now!

You just dont know do you....

The gear ratios in the new 5 speed are very different from past years. A 3.90 gear is ideal for the autos and a 4.10 for the manuals. Anything more than that is considered "radical".

I should also add that Im installing a 4.10 in my 5 speed auto. Radical isnt a bad thing.

oh,,radical is a good thing,,sorry- The thing I "dont" understand is why the manual trannys have the 355's and the auto doesnt!!I guess its backwards now..In earlier stangs the auto had the bigger overdrive so it need a bigger gear then the manual!! IMHO 410's are nice, but 430's are "radical":D Can someone please answer my question, what rpm r u at when doing 60mph with 410's??

4.56 if for a pure drag naturaly aspirated car .. it wont hook on the street and if you bother to put any kind of power adder on it you will be out of gear.

the gear ratios are the same for the standards the diference is the 05 up uses a 27 inch tall tire so they seem longer.

the 3.55 when you figure in the tire diameter is realy a barley taller final ratio then the old 3.08 was with the 26 inch tires that the old cars came on.

4.10s is farthest i would go if you plan on puting on a power adder hell if you plan on doing a serious power build up ie 450+ rwhp then the stock gear will sufice just fine or maybee a 3.73

I agree, power adders and gears dont mix!! But 456 would be great for n/a cars that like 0-60 performance, and 1/4 mile runs..Plus they keep you honest on the highways:nice: Personally,I dont like revving the motor,so I would have to keep it at 70-75mph to keep the revvs down! For me having stock gears makes going 80mph to easy,I dont need any tickets!Just me
