How much boost on forged internals?!

Was thinking about getting a cobra crank, manley rods, and manley pistons put in my 00GT. How much boost can I run when I have this set up? How much would it cost, estimated? I want to run at least 15psi with a good tune.

Go for it. That combo will take lotsa power. But just keep in mind, no matter how tough your internals are, if your tune is off, it could go boom either way. What kind of power adder are you planning on running?

wow... 15psi w/ what?

and your going to need a new block cause kiss the old one good by after that much boost.

going to need upgraded/new tranny, rearend, and fuel/electric system....

I dont see any problems as far the block going boom. Stock GT (Modular) blocks are supposed to be good for around 1200 HP (Unlike 5.0 blocks, which blow at like 450 HP). The other parts you mentioned should be good up to 800-900 HP I would think. You will definately need to beef up the rest of the drive train though.

Mike Siska's running 12psi in his '95 Thunderbird with an AED race kit. It makes over 500rwhp and runs 10.90's at around 125mph at 4000lbs. You sure you want that much power?

You should be able to run quite a bit of boost with those internals. I don't think the block should present problems as it is cast iron and purty damn durable

I think you may be wrong about the block. The block on a GT is a aluminum block. The 03'-04' cobras have iron blocks but not the GT.

Incorrect, all OHC 2V blocks are iron

So the block should be able to hold up to some pretty high boost correct?

You're thinking of the pre-2003 4V DOHC engines ('93-'98 Mark VIII and '96-'2001 Cobra). In which case, you'd be right.

i am planning on running 15psi soon. my friend has a similar set up to me and is running 17psi he put down 561rwhp on a conservative tune.

ill wait till the tranny goes with these mods, i have a v1 strim on all ready, im just gettin the boost bug if ya know what i mean! Block should be good, but i might look into gettin a new short block. Im just throwing the idea around. Its a want, not a need type of basis.

The block wouldn't be the first thing to go. Something else will go before the block does

I THINK these guys are supposed to know what they are talking about. Most stock block potential would be roughtly the same I would think.

In the question directly above that, they are talking about 5.0's, I wonder if they are still referring to them in that question?

They are talking about a 5.0 block; thats what they mean when they call it a roller block. They are reffering to a roller cam which is a 5.0 thing.
