I have a hell of a deal offered to me for a novi with 500 miles on it and everything to install..
I was wondering how much boost can a stock motor handle before it lets loose?

I run 15psi at times for track events but usually run the street between 8-10psi. If you have a tuning device to control total timing at WOT you can get away with alot. I have 146k+ miles and this car has been run at these settings for over 60k miles

Of course, it all depends on the condition of your engine, gaskets, etc..

but.. if you got a proper way to deliver fuel.. anything up to 12psi will be fun. I would go much beyond that though..

say 12psi at the most... more then likely you might blow a head gasket if it has alot of miles on it... just get a good tune

i run 12lbs right now but i wouldn't go anymore than that. 8-10 is a safe amount.

A Novi what? 1000, 1200, or 2000?

Its not a matter of how much boost the engine can take, its how much power. A stock longblock might take 20psi to split, but one with an aftermarket intake and heads might take 12psi before it splits.....and both might have made 550hp.

I would agree with 8-10psi. Unless you have some very good induction, that amount of boost probably won't make more than the block can take.
