My car is an 88 lx hatchback & I'm trying to figure approximately what my car weighs.
Modifications that would have an impact on weight include:

Aluminum radiator, heads, and drive shaft, a/c delete, tremec tko 600, fiberglass cobra r hood, no spare tire, full interior w/ 6 point cage, long tube headers, off road shorty h pipe, dumped mufflers (no tailpipes), weld wheels.

Thats all that I can think of off hand that would have an impact. What do you guys think???

My guess is right around 3000 lbs....

eleventy trillion pounds

on a serious note, i've heard such a wide range of claims as to how much or how little these cars actually weigh that i have no idea what to think any more... take it to one of those drive-on truck weighing stations and remove the guesswork

Having a cage probably puts you at or over what your car would weigh stock.

You weigh around 3100-3200lbs. I say this because i just weighed my buddy's '89 GT last summer, and it has basically all the mods your car has, except he also has a tubular K and A arms and he weighed 3180 with nobody in the car. His car being a GT adds a little weight with the body kit and the sport seats, but the cage you have in your car should just about even that out. I'd say you're at least 3100lbs if you haven't done anything to lighten the car, like pulling the carpet and back seats and swapping in racing seats and stuff like that.

Just look in the phone book and see if there's a gravel company near by...they'll weigh you for a few bucks.

Or pretty much any truck stop gas station... they almost always have CAT scales... like 8 bucks for the first time, and 1 buck for each time after within 24 hours IIRC.

WOW! the scales i used must be way off then? My coupe all tublar k member and arms weighted in at 3200,my 4 banger weighted in at 2950 on the same scales. My coupe is a 351w and my wheels alone weight 53LBS each i took a wheel off and weight one so i know,my car also had a full tank of fuel and me in it i weight 150LBS.Here is how it looked when i weighted it,i was told with no front and rear seats with my hard fixed back plastic driver seat and my old centerline drag wheels my coupe weighted 2700 but that was with the 302.
3200LBS trim

these are my centerline wheels the fronts are 4" and the rears are 9" peace

I'd guess 3250, myne weighed 2980 before i put a rollbar in it, and ive got no ac, ps, UPR front kit, no sway bar, aluminum rad, flywheel, bla bla bla.

it depends on the car, ive seen guys with way less removed than my car and they come in at 2900 with driver.

Go to a local scrap yard, they have accurate scales, and the one close to my house didnt charge me a dime.

When i weighed mine, it came in at 3390 with me in it (200 pounds)

SO that was 3190 with a loaded 88LX with AOD. I've since ditched the AOD, A/C, smog so hopefully i'm around 3050-3100 now

My 1987 LX 5.0 hatch AOD was 3100lbs. It has no quad shocks, no rear sway bar, no AC compressor or smog pump. This included the spare, jack and a few tools. Power windows, PDL, cruise, etc.

My friends '88 GT hatch with a blower, alum driveshaft, gutted interior with plastic seats, no power steering, no ac, no smog, roll cage, TKO 600, fiberglass hood and welds was 3250lbs on the same scale.

I would have never guessed it was so heavy. My 1994 GT with AFR 185s and Novi 2000, T-5 with Corbeau seats and fiberglass hood, AC, PS, PW, PDL was only 3,240 on the same scale.
