To have a trickflow top-end kit prefessionally installed...I would do It but Have no time, and The fear of all the little things, adj. rockers, making sure all bolts are to proper specs, etc. What would it cost to have installed...Not at ford dealers, but just a mustang place or good mechanic shop.

my guess...1,750 at the minimum. it could get expensive fast.. really alot of it depends on what shops around you charge per hour.

your best bet is to start reading up on it or find a freind who knows when he is doing more so and have him there when you do it to guide you through it.

maybe try and find a stangnetter near you? lots of these guys on here are just as good as mechanics, and also love working on these cars. maybe offer $500 or $1000 and some beers if they actually know what they're doing????? otherwise, around here, it would be over $2000, maybe $3000 for the install. (and you'd probably have to wait a month or more)

I say save some money, find time to do it and a very knowledgeable person to lend a hand (maybe throw them some money to help, would be much much cheaper than a shop plus you get to learn and say you do your own wrenching)

I got a quote to do everything from oil pump to lifters(seals, rings, bore, pistons...etc) for 825 dollors plus 650to pull and install the motor.
Plus I would add some kind of HCI so tack on another $600(thumper)to $895(patriot) heads, $300 cobra intake, $250? for a cam
so total price is between $2025, and $2320

just curious what certified mechanic shops charge in everyones area? around here its about $125/hour i think now? maybe more.

I'm willing to bet it'd cost more than you'd pay for the kit. Your best bet is to call around some shops and ask what they'd charge to do headgaskets, since that's the same work they'd essentially be doing with swapping on the new H/C/I. Add probably another hundred or so to the price they give you to figure the cam swap into the price.

why not just ask for a quote for a hci???? what do you gain by asking for a gasket change, then guessing from that estimate? I know that its close to the same job, but it is not the same job. i'd rather get a quote for what i'm having done.....

True, but it would give you a ballpark for essentially the same work. They'll probably throw an outrageous number out for swapping to aftermarket parts. You know how shops work, it's the same principle as "oh, you do have Explorer heads in stock? Great, I'll take them! Oh, no, they're not going on a Mustang!" as the price goes up $200 because instead of being a replacement part for an Explorer, they've now become a performance part, and the salvage yard guy just made himself some money.

At my shop we go by book hour and charge $70 per hour. I just looked up the book hour and you'd be looking at spending about $1281 just on labor.

I charge $500.00 to a h/c/i swap ( that covers labor and gaskets ) on a customers car with their parts, If you buy from me I'll cut you a break. That will give you an example to base other shops off of. Good luck just find a good reputable speed shop they do not have to be mustang specific. "Its just nuts and bolts"
