I'm trying to decide whether or not to get the gears....it's only a question for me because i do a lot of highway driving. usually 1000 mi a month of highway.

Anyway, after reading that they only increase your rpm about 3-400 at 70 mph, I figured it shouldn't affect my fuel mileage too bad.

However, unless i'm going to see significant 1/4 mi time improvements, i'm just gonna keep the 3.27's.

So, how many tenth's did you guys take off with your 4.10's? I'm not looking for hypothetical #'s here...but real world results.

I dunno about modular engines but I've heard it's average to take about .3 off the ET of the 94-95 5.0's

Well, I had a couple other mods, but from best I can tell, i gained close to half a second (thats right .5), but ONLY AFTER I learned how to launch and not spin so bad :)

Also, MPG's aren't that bad at all. The worst part on gas mileage, is when you want to feel those new gears ;)

My brother has 4.10's in his 5-speed 96 GT and my husband's 5-speed 2001 GT has the stock gear ratio. You can definately tell the 96 wastes way more gas on the freeway.

My brother took it to the track before and after he put in the gears. He still hit 15's I think.

You also need better tires for those kinds of gears. I sometimes find myself CHIRPING the tires. I'm not sure how to spell that. So, unless you are going to be racing it often I would stick to 3.27's. Gas is expensive.

you can gain .2-.3 but if you can't get the power to the ground, you'll actually go slower. alot of people have done it. i suggest working on the rear suspension first, then at a later time get the gears. that way you can get the most out of the gears.

I've read of guys dropping their 1/4 mile times by as much as .8 tenths by switching to 4.10's over 3.27's. However, I'm sure those people are using real sticky tires like ET slicks or BFG DR's. I'm also sure they know how to drive and hit their shifts like their suppost to and that probably takes lots of practice.
