Quite the shame actually to see some extensively modded cars with such low mileage....only to be sold off cheap. Cars are never an investment. If you've sunk that much into it already, might as well keep it for the long haul and enjoy it. My .02

i would take no less than 20K for it! i just added up everything i have in my car and i have just passed the 32K mark. i have now spent just as much for mods as i paid for the car to begin with! i just dont see how people can sell their cars so cheap! i wouldnt sell mine for less than 25K as it sits.

Finally an answer that makes sense lol...

My car would cost more for me to put back to stock than it would for me to "lose" money in selling it. I bought the car for $18,000 w/ 4100 miles in November of 2004 - the car simply could not sell for less than that in this market when 03's and 04's are selling for 17k-19k used RIGHT NOW at every local dealer. Saying this car is worth $12-$15k is just stupid.

For instance...

http://cars.com/go/search/detail.js...+descending|Q-descending|Z-46032&aff=national

http://cars.com/go/search/detail.js...+descending|Q-descending|Z-46032&aff=national

http://cars.com/go/search/detail.js...+descending|Q-descending|Z-46032&aff=national

There are endless cars in that price range...only ones I see that are in the 12-15k price range are high mileage cars, pre-2003 cars, and V6's. Perhaps it's just the Indianapolis market really likes new edge GT's And the idea that the mods I have would decrease the cars value is just sorta kinda not correct, hell taking the KBB value and just adding a few grand (say 3 for everything) if I could take off the blower kit would gimme 20,000...and that's not to mention the rest of the junk!

That was the original plan, but I just found out insurance for this car is $500 more per term than a 966tt Not to mention the ****ty gas mileage I get with the big ol' V8 (200 a tank max, 100 if I go to the strip) NOT TO FORGET that these cars are pigs (I mean c'mon, 3300lb 2dr coupe??). Don't get me wrong, I love my car - and obviously know a thing or two about it (see mods list, and that all the work was done by me lol).

I could also list my car on car.com for 26k dosen't mean i'm going to get it... those people are listing there cars at that, because they have a payment, but once they realize they aren't going to get that price they lower it what the market is truely at....

For Example...

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.j...linder&fuel=&doors=&style_flag=1&cardist=1932

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.j...linder&fuel=&doors=&style_flag=1&cardist=2425

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.j...linder&fuel=&doors=&style_flag=1&cardist=1065

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.j...ylinder&fuel=&doors=&style_flag=1&cardist=975

i mean i know this ones cloth but add 1k on for leather seats...
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.j...ylinder&fuel=&doors=&style_flag=1&cardist=994

and then there's idiots like this who dun know what they're doing "internet special"
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.j...ngine=&style_flag=1&doors=&fuel=&cardist=1125

almost 4k less

Like i said, none of those cars are 04's. I'm not expecting to get full value out of my car - all i'm saying is it is certainly worth atleast $20,000. Hell, stock Mach 1's with as many miles as my car are selling for 25k around here. For some reason the market is really rich around here... I dunno why.

The Mach is in a different market. Its gonna be real tough to get more than 15k IMO when you can pick up a used 05 GT for under 19k allready.

Pretty much for every bolt on subtract 100 bucks from your asking price, and if you're blown maybe only add 1k onto the price... people have a mostly true conception that any modded car is a car thats been beat on..

seriously you don't mod a car to slowly accelerate to the speed limit shifting at 1500 rpm all the time.

Put it back to stock if you can as was mentioned before you will make out so much better.

Why waste your time asking people this here.
Go and get your car professionaly appraised
in writing if you want to know the real value of your vehicle.

That's funny, cause my Mustang is cheaper to insure than my 05 Nissan Murano I just picked up. What year 966tt? What type of coverage? I guess it has to do with the fact that the Mustang is 6 years old, but I still have full coverage on it.

Crappy gas mileage is just part of the game with these cars. 3200-3300lbs for this type of car isn't all too bad...start looking at the 03 Cobra, or even an 05 GT and you'll start to think your GT isn't so heavy after all. Plus you're blown (like myself..who also does his own work) so it's not like a SC GT is a slouch.

I guess I'm glad I ended up keeping my car this long. I've come very close to selling it myself, even before I installed the Vortech. If I sold my car and bought a Terminator, I wouldn't have been in the financial situation I am now to buy a nice DD.

2002. I was pricing Porsche's, and other european sports cars, and not a single one was as expensive as the mustang; though a few were close. Mostly it's due to model year and the fact that those cars have less instances of crashing (due to total production numbers, and the people who drive them). Also, all coverage plans I was looking at were quoted to me cheaper on the european cars - in all instances and all variations with comparable options.

I know how much a Cobra weighs, and I know how much my GT weighs. These cars are ALL pigs, all SN95+ mustangs are pigs, it's just the name of the game. I've just been a little dissapointed with the handling capabilities of the Mustang. Even with the IRS I used to run (including coilovers and a buncha other stuff) it was no where near the performance of alot of the stock cars I've driven. By the standards of cars I roll around with, my car is a slouch lol.

If I do keep this car, it will probably end up being a strip car.

Pennywise2 brings up a very valid point! Good suggestion thanks!

First....how the heck did you get that car for $18k with 4k miles when the care wasn't even a year old? now that was a good deal. In this area Mustangs go for a lot too it seems. Most 04's I see with similar mileage are selling from 19-21k. Now I understand the mods may lower the value, but I don't think that means you should lower your selling price. It may take a bit longer because you've narrowed your market to someone who appreciates that sort of build-up. But I'd think you can get 20k for it. I really don't think you'd get any more for it than if it were stock though.

I used to have a 2004 GT premium with a sticker price of 26 and change. I bought it new for about 19K + tax.

How'd you pull that off? Special deal or were they desparate to get rid of it? Seems like nowadays its hard enough finding a GT on the lot around here, let alone them doing anything special to get rid of one.

I've pondered the thought of selling my car, but a)I absolutely love the looks I get in it. It's SUCH a head turner and I'll have problems getting attn like this in another car. b) even though I get an avg of 13-15mpg per tank, I only drive 13 miles to work, so it really isn't that bad. c) I've done all the work (aside from the gears) so I'd have a hard time letting go of her.

It was right before the 05s came out so there where huge rebates and the dealers where giving them away. It was also decemeber with about 5 inches of snow on the ground too.
