How much is just enough.

So I have come to a standstill with the mustang. I'm at the point where I wanna begin adding some extra ponies to the car. Currently it is a 95 AODE with only a flowmaster catback. I'm kind of torn between H/C/I or a turbo kit at the moment though. This car will be an everyday driver also. If I were to go H/C/I it would be AFR 165s, edelbrock performer RPM II, and a FTI custom cam along with some bolt ons including mac longtubes, mac prochamber, ASP underdrive pullies, and I don't know about a mass air yet or injectors. With this combo I should be seeing roughly 300 to the wheels correct? I know killercanary has a similiar combo and runs low to mid twelves. That should be good for a street car right? Or is it? Then we got the turbo which would net me around 350 RWHP and over 400 RWTQ. Keep in mind I'm gonna be going from around 170 RWHP to at least 300 RWHP through a 5-speed instead cuz I would do a 5-speed swap since I'd be able to afford it where as with the turbo I wouldn't.

Now one more question, how are 03 cobras mid 12 sec cars with over 370 RWHP but yet killercanary pulls that off also. Is it all becuase of the launch then and suspension setup? Any input would be great. Thanks

For one the RPM II intake will be way too much on a H/C/I setup so I would go with the performer 5.0 or maybe the RPM. I would think the h/c/i would be more streetable but a nice tune with the turbos and you shouldnt have any problems with it. Its all up to you what you want to do... Turbo kits are expencive but will create some nice power.

Who knows why Paul is faster. Maybe his car is a little lighter, has DR's, and suspension upgrades and the Cobra doesnt. Got any idea of what mph the cobra traps in the 1/4? Paul is just one hell of a driver I guess :)

well, the 03 cobras are tanks.but at the same time, i think killer did some weight reduction as well. hell, i saw a stock cobra on dr's hit 12.2. killer is one hell of a driver, and so was the cobra driver. from what ive gathered, we have the lighter cars.

:stupid:

hey 1105 did you race that 2000 supercharged GT yet?

oh, i see you want to do the 5 speed swap. Im not trying to sell you anything, but i might be able to help you out in that dept. I think turbo stangs are awesome and another one on the street is great. I can sell you a 5 speed set up for cheap. I wrecked my old 5 speed and EVERYTHING is still in great condition. i messed up the frame pretty badly and it was totalled out. there is about 60k on the tranny. If not, no big deal.

A couple things to keep in mind when looking at Paul's times at the strip.

One is that he makes a good bit of power under the curve, (high & flat torque dyno numbers) and he is making around 75 rwhp less than the Cobra as you have pointed out.

The other thing is that Paul has been to the strip many, many times and he has worked at his driving skills to be as quick as he is today. It takes time and effort to be good at the strip and I almost forgot, he uses :nice: THREE pedels :nice: to get the job done.

i agree the rpm ii is too much intake for that setup.

i'm a n/a guy, so i recommend the h/c/i. plus, all the other stuff adds up as well in the torque department and the long tubes and prochamber sounds great. even if you decide to go with a blower in the future, all that stuff will just make it that much better too.

if you really want to go with a manual, you might consider selling your aod car and buying a manual car. it is not the most straightforward swap. the expense of buying a manual transmission and getting it installed may be less than the difference between selling your car and buying one that already has a manual tranny (and installing flowmasters). plus the computer would already be configured for the manual.
