I'm wondering how much nitrous can a stock 79' 302 take? The engine was rebuilt 40k miles ago. From what I been told, the engine is totally stock, it just had a rebuild on it. Also how much power you guys think I can make at the flywheel with ported E7 heads, 1.7 roller rockers, edelbrock performer intake, holley 650 carb and a E-303 spec cam?
Thanks
Jhery

off topic, but on horsepower TV they had a fox hooked up to nos... nearly stock running mid 14's...after the juice they had it running 12 flat. i don't think they ever said how much juice they were using...had to be over 100.

I would say 125hp tops for a stock motor.

I plan on running a 100hp shot on mine.

I'd say none at all......didn't the '79's have cast pistons? You'd be taking a real chance if so!

And the E303 cam won't work in your '79 since it's not a roller block. If you're wanting to build from scratch, I'd suggest finding yourself a roller block as a starting point. Any late 80's F-150 has them.

it was a 125 shot. it was on a couple days ago, grey coupe everytime i see a program on tv installing nitrous they also say it wont hurt the engine as long as its installed correctly. im saving for a novi 1000. then ill blow my engine up and buy a 331 stroker or 347

Yes....a stock HO can, but you guys are forgetting that this '79 may have cast pistons. I wouldn't even dream of stuffing 125hp worth of nitrous into an engine with cast slugs. Good tune or not! Eventually, it's gonna go BOOM!

I know, thats why I said a E-303 spec cam. Saying a flat tappet cam with the same specs as the E-303.

Gotcha.....I personally think there are better cams out there, but It's your choice. As for the pistons that are in your car.....there should be info on it floating around on the net somewhere, you'll just have to search. If worse comes to worse, your local Ford dealer may be alble to look up the original part number for you.
