How much power can this block handle ?

I could get a 351w out of a 89 Crown Victoria for pretty cheap. How much power can this block handle ?

I always had the project of a 408W Turbo or TT. You think it will handle it ?

Keep the horsepower under 600-625 at the crank and keep the revs under 6500. With a good tune it should live.

Yep. The old blocks (69-73) can handle some serious power. The newer blocks don't seem like they're so strong. The 351's have much thicker (but still not thick enough) webbing around the mains compared to a 302.

That would be preferable, for your sake. I've seen a 69 W-block go to 750 RWHP @ 7600 RPM or so. The guy was nuts. The last time I saw his car was about 3 months ago when I broke my car at the race track. The motor was still living, too. I wouldn't push something that far unless you are anticipating breaking it. The tune has got to be SPOT-ON for the motor to live.

I believe the good years for 351 blocks are 69-73 or 74. I'll have to ask my old man when I talk to him again....

The DART 351 Iron Eagle block is the only way to go if you want to make serious HP with out worrying if your block will hold up. I purchased one plan on stoking it to 393 or 408 ( have not decided yet ) and I am putting a YSi Vortech supercharger w/ 20lbs of boost on it. Tech guy at DART said their Iron Eagle blocks can handle up to 2000hp, so unless you plan on making more than 2000hp, you will not have to worry about block giving away.
