How much should I expect to pay to have my back bumper repainted?

The neighbor wasn't much help. She said her place would charge me $351. I don't think she was cutting me a deal at all.

The bumper itself is $229 and another $189 to have it painted! I'm not even going to look how much shipping would cost since that right there is more then having it repainted would cost. Plus I would have to install the bumper myself and I don't know how to do that. I'd probably damage the new one trying.

I own a body shop and I would charge around $250-$275 to fix your bumper cover. It depends on where the damage is, if it's in dead center on the back it can be fixed and blended and look great. If it's around on the corner or sides behind the wheel it will have to be blended up onto the quarter panel so it matches perfect and this will cause the price to be higher.

The scratches aren't dead center but close to it. One is over the T and the other is over the N. All three places I have gone to so far have wanted to totally strip it and repaint the whole thing. It looks to me that it should be able to be blended. I live near Indianapolis and I can't find any shops charging anything in the range people are saying they have had it done or would charge me to do it. I guess I might have to just live with them for a while. :(

If you take some touch up paint and carefully paint in the scratches you may not even notice it anymore, especially from a few feet away... That would only cost a few bucks...

Also, have you tried rubbing compund to "rub them out"? Are the scratches deep? Sometimes they appear a lot worse than they are...

They are deep. It completely took the paint off in some spots and seems to have scratched into the plastic in one spot. I wish I could show them. There was a third scratch but it buffed off. I am afraid touch up paint would make them look worse but if I am going to have the bumper completely stripped then I guess there isn't much harm in trying.

I had a huge chip out of the leading edge of my hood. About 1/4" x 1/8". Used some touch up paint on it and now I barely even notice it. People other than myself never notice it and they always noticed the chip that was there before....
