How much should I give for this?

How much should I pay my friend for the engine harness that fixed my 04 GT? He bought a crate PI engine and couldn't use the harness (he put the engine in his 98). His brand new engine harness fixed my problem.

He won't give me a price that he wants for it and I have no clue how much to give him for it?

What do you think Stangnet?

I checked ebay and there's only one, for a 99, and it's a 45$

Is that for a new, or a used harness and is it Motorcraft original, or aftermarket? Keep in mind, he gave you a "new" Ford one, so what you give him should reflect that. I'd price it out from Ford and offer him something between 50-75% of it's value to be fair. When it all comes down to it, he was the one doing you the favor, so keep that in mind when you're pondering what it's worth to you.

I believe that's why he came here for advise. I believe that he is thinking about his friend and he does realize the favor his friend has done for him. Your making it seem like he's lost sight of that fact. 68 stang is a good person which is evident by his wellingness to come here to ask the right thing to do by his friend. Pearl02.

Take a step back Pearl, that's not what I was implying. :nono:

I wasn't making an assassination, or judgement on his character; I was simply reminding him of the fact that his buddy did him a favour in his time of need. He didn't hesitate to help him out, or him and haw about details when his friend needed the part, nor did 68 Stang have to wait for some EBay auction to end, hoping he got the part for what he was hoping to pay for it, or for that matter have to sit and stew an additional week and a half waiting for the shipping.

I was simply reminding him that perhaps he shouldn't be looking around too hard for the best deal on the part and come in with the lowest offer he's able to find taking into consideration the favour that was done of him and the hassle he avoided because of it. Sometimes it’s not all about saving a buck, but about showing the proper appreciation when someone goes out of their way to do you a favour.

I was merely placing into perspective the situation in its fullest, not just the dollar and cents aspect of it!

I think it all depends on what type of friend he is.

I've given certain friends parts and expected maybe 50% of the value as payment.

Other friend i've given parts for free and wouldn't take a thing for them.

I think it's up to him to determine what he should give his friend

Sorry I "stepped" on your toes. I did reread your post and you said nothing out of line. It seems I read something in your reply that wasn't there. Let's keep the peace. Pearl02.

One million dollars <Dr Evil laugh>

I don't have to be reminded. Believe me, I'm well aware, that's why I came here for advice. I know he gave me a new ford one. That's why I don't want to offer him only 45$. I was thinking 100$ maybe, or a couple bottles of Crown (that's what he likes).

Look dude, the more I think about it the more this statement gets under my skin. I'm not searching for the best deal, I was just trying to get an ideal of what they were going for, and that's the only one I found.

Don't think for a second that I don't appreciate what he did for me, I think about it EVERYTIME I start my car.

I better leave the rest of my thoughts to myself, you're posts very often get under my skin, so I'm going to stop here.

Good idea man. Cash and Crown Royal sounds good to me. Pearl02.

Don't overthink it. As I stated earlier, this wasn't an assasination on your character, or me questioning your loyalty to your friend, meerly another perspective to consider when factoring everything in. Take it for what it's worth amd don't get your nose out of joint over it. You did after all ask for opinions?

If that's the way you see it, then yes....keeping them to yourself might not be a bad idea. Either way, glad you got the car back together. :)
