How much timing is good on a NA car and what A/F?

Blower is gone and the car is SO SLOW with 18* total timing and a A/F of 11.785..... What should I shoot for now?

how are you tuning?

if running stock fuel tables i would run 14 initial with 93 for a baseline. what heads? aluminums will like a lil more timing

I'd setup the fuel table where it produces a wysiwyg for your final af ratio verified by your dataloggs.

then

Select something a bit fat like 12.25 to 1

then

Setup your spark table for 32 to 38 total and have it all in by 2500, again, verified by your dataloggs.

Lean fuel and adjust spark to what your combo likes

nope about 26* total at WOT or high load

They do have up to 50-55* in mid load and with the EGR kicking....#1 why IMHO keep the egr or dump it (no real need to though as its off in WOT anyway) and turn it off in the eec. or its det. city.

I'm suprised you guys haven't seen that abreviation. That one has been around for ever. At least all of Grady's life as he puts it, so I guess it's been around for centuries.

I would do exactly what Grady said, every combo is a little different.

Grady and I have similar combo's but they responded in different ways. My hp didn't change with an A/F of 12.5-13.5, but my hp did change with timing changes.

Grady experienced the opposite, maybe its the difference in the AFR vs. TW heads?

I had forgotten I laid out the fuel table thing on my site but while looking for some stuff for Chad ...... I saw it

Look right after WOT Tuning on the tuning page

In a nutshell, for a na combo using j4j1 ...................

1) You kill the high speed fuel adder
2) You take the table and make all high load values the same
3 )You tweec only the OL part of the maf curve until wb and table values match

This method will allow you to simply dictate what ratio you desire by the value you plug in the high load row of the table

WB no longer needed for wot after this method

I saw one guy at the local dyno manipulating his MAF curve off the datalogs, that just looked like a nightmare.
