As for your last question, you probably could get more for the parts, IF you could find buyers for all of them. Cars are generally worth more in pieces than they are put together and running. But think how long it would take to sell each item one by one.
Well as we all know v6 mustangs have bad resale value. You car is very clean on the out side however Imo the buyer is gonna have to come up with a couple of thousand just to get it running and to pass smog. NO car that has been driven as a daily driver is in excelent codition. If you read excelent condition on kbb it says that only 5% of vehicles fall under that catogory. With that said don't expect much. At most Imo 1500. You figure someone pays you 1500 has to pay another 1300 and they still have a 14 year old car with 103k. I ve seen 94 95 gts in the 3500 range with about the same miles. Another thing you can do is donate the car. This is a good idea becuase 1. You'll get kbb value for the car. 2. you get to write it off on your taxes. 3. It will go to a person who really needs it.

Your kbb value should fall between the fair and poor condition. I am not saying it isn't a nice looking car but right now it is as useful as a boat on land.
If I was you I would ask $2.3k and hope for someone to offer $1.5-2k. Replacing the head gasket is very labor intensive so that narrows your potential buyers down to do-it your selfer mechanics. Out of that small crowd not to many will be looking for a 14y/o automatic v6 with 100k miles. Start placing adds on craigslist etc.

Well I got $1625 for it on ebay. At that point it was more than I expected. Less than I wanted of course, but then again it would have been nice to get $1,000,000 for it too. I did the whole craigslist thing for about a week before I listed it on ebay. At first I had it listed for $3,200, just to see what responces I'd get. I got a few offers between $200-$500. After that I started listing it without a price, and didn't get a single call.
The winning bidders came the next day to get it. 2 dudes drove 2 hours here to pick it up, and towed it back, 2 hours home. They had no questions, and didn't even look the car over. I wouldn't be suprised if parts from that car start showing up on ebay soon. At that point, maybe I'll learn how much that interior was worth. I think I could have sold it for $1000. Kinda makes me wish I had the free time, and a garage. I would have parted it out.
$1000 at least for the interior panels (airbags included)
$200 seats
$500 engine + tranny
$free wheels
$500 convertible top system
$100 in scrap metal for the carcass
then there's the fenders, doors, windsheild, hood, gas tank, driveshaft and rear axle, and all that other junk. I'll always wonder what I could have made total.
Well hey, $1625 is more than the $1500 I first said.. once upon a time I let a white 5.0 1988 Mustang GT go for way too small a price, because I was young and stupid and didn't know how to sell cars. I have been kicking myself ever since. I'd say focus on the positive.. you are rid of a non-functioning car, got a fairly decent price, and you're free to move on now. If you get a new 2008 GT, be sure to get the interior mood lighting!
