im thinking of selling my 2000 mustang GT with 85000 miles with a 5 speed, loaded. it is black with silver stripes. it has an acufab plenium, throttle body, bbk cold air intake, h pipe, flowmaster. it has a mach 1 chin spoiler, grille delete kit, 17" bullitt rims with new dunlop tires. has black leather and everything is very clean. no rust anywhere on car ( even underneath anywhere) how much would be a good price? im located in ohio.

KBB lists your car at about $6 - $6.5K, depending on good or excellent condition - these prices are for a private party sale...as opposed to trade-in.

For reference, the trade in #'s are $4.5 - $4.9K.

The mods won't be worth anything at a dealership.

In a private sale, I'd guesstimate an extra $500. So, if it were me, I'd start the sale at $7.5 and be willing (and with the 7.5K price you'll have room) to negotiate.

Yeah... don't even bother anywhere else.

If I could bail my Mustang for $7,400, I'd clean my stuff out and hand over the keys after taking the check. If I sold it now, I'd be satisfied to even get 5k for it.

It is common for stealerships to offer you a ridiculously high trade in value. This makes you feel like you have to trade there, no need to even shop anywhere else! They will then typically overcharge for what you are buying to make up the loss. I know, I know this could NEVER happen to you cause you are too smart. Good luck man.

Back to reality for a moment, your car's mods do not add or detract from the value except for the tb and plenum and possibly H. I would subtract $500-1000 off the price for the tb/plenum if I was buying it there are too many problems with aftermarket stuff there. If the H has no cats that is another $1000 off the price as it must be street legal to sell/buy.

My suggestion would be to remove the tb, plenum, and H put the stock parts back on and sell the mods separately on eBay.

What a dealer gives you means nothing.
The other part of the deal that comes into play is the cost of the car you
drive off the lot in and the finance deal they give you. (high interest for a
long period of time). Now if they were to just give you the $7400 cash
and not require you to make a deal...........:nice:
