How old were you when you got your first stang?

15, bought the T-top I have now. Told the parents I was going to rip it apart which they were happy about because i would gain driving experience in the meantime.

I went from an automatic '82 Toyota Corolla to a 5-speed 5.0. For a good while I was pretty sure that car was unbeatable. Ironically my first real beat down came at the hands of another 5.0: an '87 LX. The first "bolt-on" 5.0 I raced and it pretty much turned me on the modifying. All he had was a 4.10 gear, crank pulley, t-body & exhaust but at the time my 85GT was bone stock. I couldn't believe how quick and responsive that thing was. I mean it was ugly from the words "go when you're ready" (his words btw). A few seconds later he's several cars ahead, sticking his arm out the window signaling me to "Slow down. this one's over." Forever gone was the aura of invicibility.

Something you don't see with the kids of today I'm afraid. It ain't over till one, or both of them are topped out. And they wonder why there are so many street racing related deaths. At least we knew when to let off, not to mention back then, racing went from a dead stop from one light, to the next, not a 40mph roll in traffic.

21...91 GT convertible with 55,000 miles...got it in May of 2001. It had a full exhaust, 3.73's, a K&N, and a styling bar. It also had a shift kit that made the car chip 2nd gear (I did it at 2,000 rpms a couple times) but shifted so firm that it got annoying.

this is true, kids wont even roll race from a 40 anymore, they just smash it when your alongside them or do a flyby and not even look at you, weaving through traffic the whole time. screw that, ill leave that **** for the birds. ive roll raced many times, but never with traffic around, and only with people i know, or at least i know are serious and know what they are doing. and i wont ever take it past 4th gear

i got my first stang in like oct of 2004 when i was 16, it was an 88 lx (hence the name foxfan88) it had a 2.3 with the almighty A4LD automatic lol. i pretty much got the car out of a field for 300 bucks. the PO thought the trans was bad but it had a leak and it was empty. i got that and spent like 400 bucks on it just doing piddly stuff to it. i had no plans for the car really i just like foxes so i got it. i wanted a 5.0 in the future.
i drove it for about 6 months until i got my 5.0 i have now. i had the 88 for a while afterwards then i sold it for 700.

i got my current mustang in april of 2005, for 3100 and it was stock with crappy exhuast and ran slower than a turd ( high 16s), i was 17 then. i'm turning 20 in a few weeks and i still have the same car except with 10k+ in parts in the car and its alot faster now lol and am hoping to be deep into the 11s once i get her running again. then i hope to do all the body work and make it pretty

Got mine in August of 99 when I was 19. Mostly stock minus 3.73's and a motorsport clutch. Now almost 9 years later, far from stock

I bought my 1988 5.0 LX on March 18, 1988 when I was 18 years old.

Prior to the Mustang I was driving a 2.8 v6 1995 Olds Cutlass Supreme that I crashed and rolled the insurance money into TJX stock that grew enough so I only had a $3K loan. The car was ordered from the factory and I waited about 6 months for it to be built. I bought it for $10,700.

At the time I was hanging with a handful of guys who did a lot of street racing. One guy had a cherry 1970 454SS 5-spd (4-spd?), another had a tweaked GN, and 4 other guys had Mustangs, each a different color - one guy had a 6 month old blue LX with 50,000 miles that we joked were put on 1/4 mile at a time.

It was the beginning of the muscle car era and there were NO parts for Mustangs. I bought mine stripped except for rear defrost, tint windows, 3.08s, and the 5.0, no power or A/C, hatch for the extra 45 lbs over the back wheels (the mags at the time said this was better for the strip). Once I got the car I couldn't bring myself to beat it, but that didn't stop me from tweaking it and the car did a lot of sitting and soon became a fair weather driver and to this date has never seen a winter. I put it away just after I got out of college in 1992 and didn't take it out of storage until March 2007. Today it has just over 17,000 original miles.
