How strong are the Ford Racing Aluminum driveshafts?

How much power are people puting through these things?

are people twisting them up?

They are twice as strong as the stock steel driveshafts. I haven't heard any stories of them failing anyone no matter how much power they are putting down.

I've heard of a few of the latemodel cobras braking them on some pretty hard launches. That's mostly the U-joints I think however.

are you talking about FMS-M-4602-J or the stock cobra units (or are they the same, I can't remeber)

How much power are you putting down, they can sustain quite a bit of HP

Around 285 NA and 400 on the bottle, it's a stick with 26" slicks too

I shattered the yoke on mine, was putting down 265/301 at the time.

Took out the tailshaft housing on the T5 too.

That yoke had to be defective or something else was wrong with installation.

was a hard 1-2 shift, had the driveshaft on the car for a good 7-8000 miles already

It matters not. Literally hundreds of folks put 400+++++ HP/TQ to those things with no problem. Someone up there noted the U-joints as the weak link. That's correct. If your using el-cheapo u-joints and the yoke breaks free then the races will likely break. If your yoke "shattered", it was defective.

I blew the cups out of mine (keeper springs came out) and when the shaft was bouncing around it got dented - game over and I have a new paper weight. Sucks because I bartered a $250 port job for the shaft and it happened driving NORMALLY down the highway the first day I put the shaft in.

when i had my 31 spline yoke put on, i had a high speed balance done and new u joints it was cheap.

ive put down 600++ through it so far, the guy and the drive shaft place said they hold up well, untill you start doing wheel stants and such.

you should have no probs.
