How tall is hurst?

My 07 gt reminds me so much of my 68 gt and 67 fastback except for that knob on the console they call a shifter. I want to replce it with the old school look, so it has to be hurst as back in the day. How much taller is the hurst compared to the stocker? Any hieght difference would be a plus, so I'm hopeing it's taller and the white hurst shift knob is old school and cool.

Hurst or buts!!!

I just put my Hurst shifter in yesterday, and yes it is a little taller and much easier to put it in 5th while staying comfortable and not reaching for it. It is the first part that I bought and put in and found to fulfill all the manufactures promises. The night and day comment is very true and man it makes just driving around town fun! I bought mine for the same old school look (had one in my "71 convertible!) and man it was worth ever penny!

P.S. it was a very, very simple to install. The only thing I have to say is read Big Cat's write up and take his advice when he says remove the console, it is easy to take out and makes putting the dust boot on the shifter and floor hole 10 times easier and faster over all.

Thanks my man, thats what I needed to hear, I also want to get the hurst equiped emblem for the trunk lid for that final touch. These new stangs are so cool, cause they look so old. I'm waiting for someone to put on air-shocks and a set of 50's on the rear, then they will have truely reached old school status, "o yeah", and a set of traction bars. I guess we can't do the traction bars, we have no leafs, no shackles as well. We still have gabriel sky jackers hee hee !!!! Even hood pins and louvers are making a come back thanks to these cars. This for sure is one of fords better idea's.

I'm with you guys... old school is the way to go with these cars. I may only be 24, but I eat, sleep and breath the muscle car era. I swear that I was born about 35-40 to late.

Others swear that the the MGW, Pro 5.0, Tri-ax, or what have you are "better" shifters, but I feel it all comes down to personal preferance. For me, as long as it's short, shifts well, and clicks loudly going into each gear, it's good. The large chrome stick, round white ball, and the legacy of hurst are all an added bonus for me! I'll be curious to see if Hurst ever releases a "his and hers" shifter for the auto's like they used to build for GM. Granted it wouldn't be a Mustang original, but it would be cool to see yet another throwback part to the hey-day of motoring in America.

I put mine in last night. It was pretty easy except for the trans bolt that has a significant chunk of my finger on it and trying to get the shifter in from the top.

I love the look and the feel. However I am looking forward to it loosening up a bit. I had an MGW in my 2K GT and loved it. I would have went that way from experience but I went for the retro look of the Hurst.

The Hurst shifter is about 1.5 inches taller.
