I sold my buddy a pair of BBK equal shorties I had and he got the drivers side in no prob but he said that the pass side is jamming between the valve cover and the strut tower. He is considering unbolting the motor mounts and jacking the engine up a bit to get it in. Is there an easier way? How do we get it in there?

although, i've never heard anyone having problems involving bbk headers. I do know people have problems with Mac products though.

Thats weird.... I installed MAC equal lengths and the drivers side was a major PITA... all the brake lines etc were in the way... On the passenger side, once i took the smog lines off, it just slipped right in there

usually unbolting the valve cover and sliding it back gives you that extra little bit of clearance. its a real tight fit and they usually only go in one way

watch the a/c line on the pass side. My BBK's would rub it when the engine torqued and eventually wore a hole in it.

I had problems clearing the heads so we took out the alternator and came in front of it and slid it back.

had a hell of a time putting in my flow tech long tubes......what a fiasco that was.....motor mounts, starter, drive rack, tranny crossmember for more vertical movement......makes me wanna scream just thinking about it.

but it was worth it after they were in.....they sound and perform awesome

LOL guessing they were a little harder than if you would have installed BBK Longtubes. I put in BBK LTs in my last car and it wasn't bad at all. But I've heard soooo many bad experiences about people installing Mac LTs

it wasn't a "bad" experience, i call it a learning experience. i'll walk you through:
Start time: 8:30 pm friday night
Drivers side: remove steering shaft, slid right in.
Passenger side: Remove Alt, TB and Inlet, Starter, Undo both motor mounts, remove pass. side motor mount, jack up motor several inches, wiggle and jiggle header until it falls in.
Not to mention having to cut and splice extensions for the o2 sensors.
End time: 3:30 am saturday morning.

It was worth it in the end though.

jack it. you'll probably have to pop the upper off when you can't get the valve cover bolted down again.
