How to 67 headlight switch removal

On a 67 stang,How do I remove the Headlight switch knob? I have the switch out but want to replace the old one.I kinda remember that the knob and rod come out together by pulling on it somehow but I dont want to break it.

there is a button on the flat part of the switch opposite the wiring plug behind the dash. Push it then just slide the whole shaft and knob out.

Yeah it's like magic? I had to ask the same thing a few weeks back as I was ready to take a hammer to the thing. I didn't know that James Bond's tech team designed headlight switches for fords but it's kinda cool. little meatal pin with a spring just push in and pull the knob out

Back up for step one: Disconnect the negative battery cable first.....
