I know that the factory speakers are 5x7, but I have been told that 6x9 will fit, but they don't seem too. what modification need to be done inorder for 6x9's to replace the front and rear speakers.

6x8 usually fit, not 6x9. I know Kenwood and Pioneer make a 5x7/6x8 thats fits a Ford perfect. If you want a 6x9 to fit, you need a bigger hole.

That is correct.... 6x9 is not a good sounding speaker anyway... You would be better of either running 5x7/6x8 plates or just round 6.5's...

Why bother? Just get some 6.5" components and make a baffle for them.
