Few days ago I went to the drag strip , it has been more then a year that I haven't race so it sucked.

Fist run I did 14.1 with 2.1 60' and 2nd run for the night I did 1.9 60' with 13.7 1/4 miles. I used to get 13.5 1/4 miles with my car . But after the cams went in about a year and half now I haven't even hit 13.5 1/4 miles.
Both runs I launch around 3500-4000 rpm I think

Cam made my car dyno queen but not track killer. :nonono:

My suspension are

MM SFC
KYB ADJ Struts front set at 1 at the track( 1= stoft, 4= hard)
KYB ADJ Shocks rear set at 2 at the track ( 1= stoft, 8= hard)
KYB Quads shocks.
BBK Gripp Rear LCA.

Front tire and rims is 18x9 FR500 with 275-35-18 bfg kd tires
Back with stock rims and MT ET Street at 18 PSI

I will like to cut 1.6-1.7 60' what do I need to get ? I have cut 1.8 many times before but cannot do it now. My parking brake was holding my launch for about a year and only few months ago I took the parking cable out and my car ran real fast , why is my parking brake cable holding caliper ? I think when I launch hard rear goes down and parking brake holding ?

Help I need to hit 12 high 1/4 mile.

Thanks in adavance

OK so are you running an ET street or ET street radial? If you are running and ET street (bias ply) you need to be launching off the rev limiter or close to it and just straight dumping the clutch, and also take 1-2 psi out of the tires. If you're on a radial, you need to be launching at 5k RPM and "easing" the clutch out until it bites then SLAM full throttle. Don't worry about reaction times for a while, those don't mean anything for your ET anyway, just practice getting the launch you want. Another thing, on your shock/strut settings, softer isn't always better, you want a little stiffness in the rear to keep the car from wasting energy when transfering from balanced (not moving) to launched. The pro-kit springs are a bit stiff for drag racing, but you should still be able to cut some 1.7's or lower.

Went to the track last night and did 8 runs but no dice.
I put all stock rims , took out front swaybar, mt et street 275-40-17 to 12 psi but best I did was one time 1.8 60"

Best et was 13.5 at 105 mph 1/4 miles. I did run 4 time 105 mph but lost to a friend with sti doing only 99 mph .
As for setting for front struts I did 3 and 2 ( my kby adj got 1-4 for front struts)

Back I set it to 4 as it can be set from 1-8. I was hoping for 12 high 1/4 but didn't happen . Lauch at from 4500 to 5500, one time I dump my clutch at 5500 and the bang sound from the rear but nothing broke. That lauch got me the worse 2.0 high 60'

Today I order some Lakewood 50/50 shocks for back and some new bbk lower control bushing as my is going south in just 2 years of use.

When you have your new BBK control arm bushings installed
you should consider swapping out your Eibach Pro Kit springs for the
Eibach Drag Launch springs very will help lower your 60 foot times.
Also what was your run like when you ran your only 1.8 60 times?
That's odd so you ran better times when you were running the
stock PI camshafts.Go to your local track and practice as much as
you can since practice makes perfect.
Is your friends Subaru STi bone stock?

Your biggest problem is that prokit springs. They are way to stiff. You want a strong spring up front and a soft spring out back. The best springs on the cheap are 4cyl fox up front and 99-04 vert rear springs. You can cut a coil on each to get it lower. You want your front struts to rebound hard and compress about medium and the rear shocks to be about 50/50. Ditch the BBK lowers they are crap and switch to something like mega bite jr or ford racing lowers that lower the mounting point on the axle.

If you do all that start saving for a rear end upgrade. That is close to what I have except my car is all coilover and some extra bracing and I cut 1.5 60' and I destroyed my driverside axle using Nitto DR

I agree with ditching the BBK's. The Mega Bite Jr's have two mounting points. The upper hole offers 85% traction increase over stock and the bottom hole offers 135% traction increase over stock. You should get some adj. uppers too. If you are getting that technical with your suspension, I recommend them. You need to adjust the pinion angle to get the most traction possible. 4cyl fox springs will help you transfer the weight as well, and they are cheap.

I don't think he can adjust the rebound and compression of his shocks and struts. Those style struts have two knobs and are extremely expensive. KYB's have one knob to adjust one of the two.

FWIW..
Back in the 70's a car that went 14 flat in street trim was actually a pretty fast street car, That STI has 300 plus horsepower and all wheel drive, that's a big advantage, when we autocross, the STI's run in a higher (faster) class than the mustang GTs, so don't feel too bad.

Something funky is going on. You are getting a hard launch which is obvious from the 60' time, but it seems to be rolling over after that. Are you power shifting? What gears do you have? You are losing time somewhere shortly after the 60' mark.

I ran a 13.15 @ 105 with a 2.1 60' time. This was in the 2.3... It would roll out slow, then hit HARD after about 20-30'. You are definately losing time somewhere in the middle of the track, weather from slow shifting, the wrong gears or whatever.

launch the car higher and drop the tires to 11-12psi. Also, where are you shifting the car? You need to be spinning your car to 6500rpms with those 270's to see the real gain at the track.

I am shifting around 6250 when my shfit lite comes on. I shift 1-2 fast but 2 - 3 is little slow then 3-4 powershift. Some how I miss shift alot 2-3 with mgw shifter, when I had steeda tri-x I used to shift like crazy in 2-3 but with mgw I seems to miss alot .

Few months ago I found out that my parking brake is holding me back as it didn't release all out. I thought parking brake is auto adj but didn't so I took the center console out and loosen the mechanism so it look fine now. I was woundring if it hold me back when I launch my car as is sits down and might get the parking cable get tight. What should I do to make sure parking brake is not holding me back.

Thanks in adavance

I know something is not right. I have FRPP 3.73 gears and I do powershift 3-4

Unfortunately, what you will find about these cars (mine included) is you probably have brake bind. Jack up your car and see if the wheels can spin freely. Both my front and rear brakes after time started to bind, so I upgraded to the Cobra kit. Brake bid will slow your car down, in my case 2 tenths.

It should just be a matter of replacing/greasing the pins which the calipers slide on. I saw this on my sisters 99 V6 as well.
