better to buy a o/r x. it can be done but the hollowed ot chambers create turbulence in the exhaust. you will lose power. if you are set on doing it then one way is to get a long screwdriver and a hammer.

Yup, a long screw driver and a hammer is the way to do it. And I would also recommend just buying a X without cats. You will also get a crappy sounding echo in that hollow spot in the cats.

If you need a catted pipe for emissions, just stick your stock one on for the inspection, then replace it with the O/R unit until you need to recertify, but don’t gut an otherwise perfect aftermarket catted mid-pipe. Gutted mid-pipes sound like $h!t and buying one just to butcher it is a complete waste of money. If you don't like the sound of your catted X, then just sell it and buy an off-road X.

That sounds like a better idea. That way if/when you ever need to have it inspected, you have the cats. Or if you got pulled over, you could put your catted legs on.
