How to hit low 13's, or high 12's without breaking the bank?

Is there any magical combo of parts that will put me there without spending a ton of money?

I figure the best way to acheive that is to shed some weight, do some suspension work, and make sure ive got traction.

But what is a good combo? Can this be done on a bolt on GT, and if so what parts are needed to get me there? No nitrous either...

100 shot of Nitrous Express will get you low 13's probably.
Nitrous is the best bang for the buck period.

Find a huge, steep hill. Put TONS of weight in your trunk and roll out!

Seriously, it'd prolly be the supercharger route, turbo, or heads/cams (and the like). Just a semi-educated guess.

So you dont think its possible with a good suspension setup, sticky tires, and say full exhaust (longtubes included), gears, intake/tb/plenum, U/D pulleys, and a tune?

Ahhh thats so much money I just listed though..

I wish I was skilled enough to do a turbo fab. I love turbo's... I would even try to fab something up if I knew how to weld, or had a welder.

As far as nitrous... I know it is by far the best bang for the buck, but im looking for a setup that would give me a constant gain, and not just when I mash a button. To be honest, id be scared to run nitrous also... too many horror storys for me.

um you can get there with just DRs and probly a mid pipe or some other cheap bolt on, but if you suck at driving like I do.... might as well get a blower, it will be cheaper in the long run...

then again I switch mods out too much.

easy... shed some wieght as you said. good set of DR's ... maybe gears and exhaust. their are a fwe local guys running 13.5-6's on street tires and gears alone. i think with some DR's and a bit of weight reduction they could go 13.2 or so.

before I get flamed, yes these guys can drive the wheels off a car, and this is in great weather.

Agreed. You said cheapest.
Also, maybe find a track closer to sea level

All jokes aside, if you really want that to be your goal then Id go straight for the S/C, but then again I dunno if $4000 range is considered cheap for a mod.

Thanks for the info guys, keep it coming. I just dont want to put nitrous on the car though, any way around that is better for me. As far as an S/C or turbo, hell yeah id love to do it but thats not exactly low on the cost scale, lol.

As far as running on slicks go... how worried should I be about busting the rear on a hard hook? I probaly wouldnt launch too high because of that.

Whoops, my hands typed faster than my brain could think. I meant to put closer to sea level. Im jealous of you living in Colorado, where else can you be in the desert and only have an hours drive up to go skiing?

you can do it with good air with the mods you listed if you can drive.

Our track (when its open) is sealevel... humidity is a hit or miss though. My car ran a 9 flat in the 1/8th as is by the previous owner.
