I have a 65 mustang coupe that is currently stripped. I was wanting to put a 302 v8 from a 93 gt and upgrade to disc brakes? Has anyone done this before? I want to make this a daily driver/show capable. Any suggestions on where to start or research would be great. Thanks

The 93 motor is basically the same as the earlier ones, with the exception of the oilpan, timing cover, front accessory drive, and the lack of the hole that the older Stang's clutch pivot ball screwed into. Change the oilpan (and pickup tube) to the older front sump pan, and either use the serpentine accessory drive system for the alternator, P/S pump and A/C compressor or swap the timing cover to the older one and use the accessories that went with it. Also you'll need to remove the 93's oil dipstick tube and plug the hole in the block and use the front dipstick and tube from the older timing cover. If you have a std trans and clutch linkage, you'll need an adapter bracket to mount the clutch pivot ball to the block. Many of the classic Stang suppliers sell this bracket. As for the ignition, there's several ways to accomplish that. The 93 will have a steel roller cam and will need a distributor with a steel cam gear. If you're going to use the EFI, then you can just use the EFI dist. If you choose to go carbed, you can get a points dist. and change the cam gear on it to a steel one, or buy an aftermarket dist with the steel gear. If going with a points dist., you can replace the points with a Pertronix unit to get rid of the points.

D.Hearne hit most of the highlights, but here are a couple more. Some of the later roller blocks are not equipped with fuel pump eccentrics. You'll either need to run an electric fuel pump or have one installed. Also, you'll need to know the balance of the motor and the tooth count of the flywheel in case you have to switch flywheels for the tranny. The damper whether 28 or 50 oz is most likely 4 bolt, so if you're switching to the 65 components, you need to find pulleys to fit said balancer. Depending which way you go, radiator and water pump may have to be changed

Don't let all this stop you; it's a straight forward drop in. You just need to do a little pre install planning. Tell us more info and we'll help you with more of what has to be done.
