How to install Clutch?

Alright, I just ordered my Ford Racing Flywheel(I got a CAT, but found out it was a POS..money lost there ) & my SPEC Stage II Clutch. How hard is it to install? This is how I figure it goes:

Put the clutch onthe flywheel facing the right way towards the motor, then put the flexplate over the clutch and slide the plate over the studs on the flyhweel while aligning it with the pilot tool. Next, bolt the flew plate down, and put the Throwout bearing on....is this all? This is all I know, so if im leaving stuff out, Please help.

Also, the flex plate doesnt need to go on any special way right? As long as it goes on the studs & it matches the bolt holes correct? Same for the clutch? Just make sure I have the motor side of the clutch facing the right way? IVE NEVER done a clutch job, but are decent enough to service my own motor.

flexplates are on slushboxes. i know it is semantics (i know what you mean), but terminology matters on this stuff.
i would highly recommend a repair manual. the torque specs alone will make it worth it. good luck.

yeah, imma gonna grab a manual from work(AutoZone). I was looking at the monthly magazine from AutoZone, and they had it all broken down exactly how I had taken it apart but want to make sure I do things right...I know torque specs are crucial especially since Im going to replace the Flywheel bolts with those from ARP.

on second thought, after re-reading, im not real sure what you are talkin about.

you do your pilot bearing (if doin one). then flywheel. then disc and PP assembly (aligned). then the TOB goes on the input shaft - it is sorta thought of separately from the clutch assembly, in that it does not bolt up with the clutch disc and PP.


oh, do a rear main if you need one.

please dont take this the wrong way - i want to see you do this once and do it right (i remember the flywheel thread too - sorry to hear about that). i would bet that even the best wrenches in here use the book - it is easy enough to forget stuff otherwise.....

Don't get any oil on your clutch, it can cause it to slip.. You'll need an 10 tooth alignment tool from work also..
