How to know if I have a 2G or 3G alternator?

I know sounds very stupid but I bought a 91 LX 5.0 Supercharged that I am turning into a weekend drag car. I have never been very good with the electrical part. It does not seem to have any charging problems but I keep reading how good the 3G is and its a must have. How do I know if the previous owner already did this or if I have the stock 2G?

I am looking at the small case 3G, are they any good? Seems easier to install.

2G has an external fan.

3G has an internal fan.

As suggested, if the alt has a fan blade on the pulley, it's probably your stock 2G.

Well it looks like I have a 3G. What I don´t see is the fuse.

Yes 3G. The fuse might be somewhere else in the cable. Can you see the whole run of the cable?

The fuse is probably near the battery.
