You mean you can shift good?

Launching is everything...

well i jus got the car n im not really used to it i havent drivin it fast yet or raced n i kno drivin a stang isnt like other cars
so i was askin how to launch it and maybe even how u guys shift them soo fast what do u guys do?

Just practice to see what feels fastest, or go to the track and keep track of your 60' times to see what works best for you.

There's no secret way that will net better results, also remember to shift at 5500rpms instead of redline. That's the optimal shift point for stock cams.

If your launching it on street tires you gotta play with your rpms start at 1000rpm and launch it and then start going up with rpm to see were you can go with out spinning the tires or just get you some ET streets and start launching it high rpm but dont break your drive shaft or your rearend so be carefull launching at idle is the safest way but who wants to be safe?

  do they have 2 steering wheels?????

Seriously, practice is the only answer to good launches. They are a blend of not letting the engine bog (V8 grunt helps prevent this but the 2.0 turbo ricers have loads of worries) and putting as much power to the wheels with out lighting up or frying the clutch.

Manual and auto cars are also slightly different, as a rule autos are alot easier and more consitant which is why so many drag racers swear by them. All you need to do is push the loud pedal. Well kind of, low grip and/or big power makes it more challenging.

With a manual car you want to launch with as many revs as you can with out ending up sitting on the line wheel spinning. A small amount of wheel spin is good (some say about 10%). So when you launch you need to feed in the throttle pedal while you SMOOTHLY lift off the clutch, but try not to slip the clutch too much as they are expensive to replace. Although if you do get too much wheel spin slipping the clutch will allow you to control it without having to reduce the rpm's which could cause the motor to bog down.

Any 4.6 Mustang has the power and torque to light up the rears no problem, so if on stock rubber take it easy and pull away as if from the traffic lights then nail it - get use to it then try more extreme starts and get some DR's.

Remember some golden rules:

1. More Speed Less Haste
2. To finish first, first you have to finish

Smoothness and quality driving are the key ingrediants.

you will get :owned: if you launch at idle.. so unless you like running 15's you need to practice your launches..

i launch at 3,500 rpm's or so... slipping the clutch andfeathering the gas... do not hammer it right away..

there is no way too figure it out other than practice..

and on the shift points.. on my stock 3.27 T-45 01 gt in first gear i shift at almost 6k now.. i tried 5500 and 5300.. but 6k powershift puts me in second gear at almost 4k.. if i shift 1-2 at 5,500 i am closer too 3,600 or so and the car dont feel as fast.. i will try a few different shift points and post my numbers with each on here
