I didn't know what to put in the title of this thread but i have some questions about keeping this beast from spining a lot.
I'm new to the V8's and all this Torque. However, I was wandering what kind of tires do you guys have on rear that will prevent me from spining all the time.

Also, is there some kind of brace or something that will help with this as well. It just seems i can't get a good lounch any time i try, Also, if i gun it in 2nd or 3rd gear the tires will spin and it just sucks. With all the spining and stuff it just makes it so slow because it has no grip at all.

The wheel are stock saleen i think 9's on the back so what is the wider tire i can put on there and also what brand? This is for the 2000 S281

I used to have a Rx7 and that thing was a beast but with rotaries you don't have a lot of torque so i only had problems with wheel hop that i fixed with Diffential braces and other crap on the back.

Get some 10 inch rears, new tires, 295-30-18's or 295-35-18's and se how that does. Then if you are not happy, get some new solid LCA's. ( lower control arms ). Maximum motorsports makes some that are height adjustable so that you can adjust the ride height. The stock Ford pieces are hollow!

BFG drag radials or nitto drag radials.
They make them in 18's, the bfg's hook better, but don't expect much more than 3500-5000 miles out of them, and that's wearing them down to nothing.

Nittos have a little less traction, but you can get 10,000 miles from them.
Both still let the car maintain good handling too.

If your car isn't a daily driver, definetely get the drag radials, if it is a DD, carefully consider the mileage and weather you drive in.

street tires + 400rwtq before 3200rpms will never hook...drag radials. If you see rain, buy the nittos, if its a drive weather only car, especially one that doesnt see to many miles, get the bfg's. It'll fix that wheel spin problem. Also a nice set of lower control arms such as Maximum motorsports and griggs will help as well, but the tires overall will do more for you in terms of straight line grip.

The one thing about traction is that it always will exploit your next weak link.
So subframe connectors are a must, good lower control arms help, and adjustable uppers to change the pinion angle will help too.

The car is daily driver. I guess i'll try the nitto's for a while and see how that goes.
Then i'll get the LCA's and take it from there.

I don't know what saleen did as far as subframe connectors for 99+ cars, so if you don't have them, get them first. Traction=body twisting, and before you know it, it feels like your car is coming apart at the seams.

Saleen did nothing as far as subs for the 94-04 cars. The 05 cars are really stiff. I believe Ford's claim that 05 and up chassis are 31% stiffer over the previous. My 06 drove like a 2 door 5 series BMW.

I have the full length Global West subframe connectors with seat supports in an 01 S281 and the car still is not as stiff as my Mercedes. I have a H&R cup kit on the benz and it will teeter it's way into my driveway whereas the mustang just flexes it's way in like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Don't get me wrong the subframes help a ton, they still are a BandAid for that platform.

I've done tons of mods on both my Foxbodies over the years. First my '88vert and now my SSC. You know how you make modifications, some you notice a difference at first or not at all. And some you do.
But, I'll always remember the day I added Subframe connectors on both my cars!That definitely totally changes the whole feel of the car. After that was the rear upper/lower control arms. Huge difference in handling and traction with these mods!
