How to re-install a t5 cover plate??

I just bought a t5 and I wanted to make sure the gears look ok. They look great. However, I removed the cover plate and can't find out how to put it back on right...I can get it back on but I can't shift thru the gears. Any ideas?

That sort of question is very difficult to walk someone through over the net. I'd really need a trans in front of me. Sounds like you can get the cover on but need to figure out if the shift forks and keys are lined up properly

it's definitely the shift forks and keys. I the gears are set to neutral.
