I believe there are plastic pins holding the heatshield in place but don't want to start pulling/pushing/twisting things untill I know what I'm doing.

i think that is all that holds it, just the plastic pins. why would u want to remove it anyway? couldn't possibly weigh much. have heard removing it will cause paint on hood to fade also, but may be b.s.

Just want to remove it to get at the hood scoop screws/bolts. I want to paint the hood scoop matte black but have it done off the car.

3 years and no paint fade so far. just wash the damn thing and wax it every few months and you'll be fine.
