I know I'm kinda old and all
but
Some things really don't change over time
Like ... the length of the strip is still 1320 feet
Like ... if you be a stick kinda guy ... you still row through 3 gears
Like ... if you hose around in the first sixty feet ... you get high et's
Now ... its true ... what I'm gonna say was many years ago
but
It is still true to this day
Me and my gear head buds used to see noobs come to the track
at the first of the season
and
after nothing but practice :Word:
they would take more than one full second off their et
Now ... they worked hard for it
cause
They were there every weekend
and
It usually took around 1/2 to 2/3 of the season to do it
Here is something that unfortunately is different about that little story
back then if you compare it to today
The stick trans in those days could be used in a max effort unlike the
wimpy t-5 of today. Don't let anybody kid you ... a full on power
shift will devour et ... as well as a t-5
We would see guys pick up 1/2 of a second with nothing more than
wrinkle wall slicks and gears that put you through the traps at rpms
close to redline
Hey ... I'm only trying to show there is a W H O L E lot more to drag racing
than
Just doing some mods to make more power
