How to ship a motor??

I have a complete 5.0 longblock I just sold and need to ship, complete oil pan to intake manifold. What is the best way to pallet or crate it up, anywhere I can buy something to ship it cause I really don't feel like making a crate and stuff. I was thinking of buying one of those stationary engine stands and just bolting it to a pallet.

Any tips/tricks anyone knows of?

Build a crete. I have scene engines shipped like this. Just a wood box out of cheap lumber and then rig up some stands to run bolts where the engine mounts go, then a few support peices and your good to go.

We just drain all fluids, put it on a pallet, strap it down and ship it!

I sold an engine on ebay awhile ago, I stacked some 4x4's till the pan rail could sit on them and screwed them to a pallet. Then I shrink wrapped and banded the whole thing down. It got there without any problems.

i just went through this a few weeks ago. and your idea is exactly what i did. just got an engine cradle and got it strapped to a pallett.

also, go to www.freightquote.com, they are by far the easieast, cheapest and ftw-est way to ship freight. good luck.
