How-to vent window top seal replacement?

I bought a couple vent window top seals with the shiny silver brads. Drilling out the old one is easy enough. Does everyone buy a brad gun or do something else here to install the new one? I figure we can use a urethane to glue the small pieces together but that seems like a last resort... To clarify I'm talking about the small black rubber triangle seal at the top of the vent window peak. Thanks!

On a 66? the seal should have come with a new rivit. You will need 4 hands to do this (easily anyway). I put a punch/drift in the vise and balance the head of the rivit on it, then center punch the rivit about 3/4 down, then flatten with a punch/drift.

Yep on a 66, I had a glass guy out here for something else and he called the rivet-looking thing a brad. He said he thinks there's a gun or something to install them, but he hasn't seen one in many years. But if I can install it manually that's good too. Thanks!

Take your time with the center punch. It will split easily (which you most likely can't prevent anyway...) and can drift off center sometimes. Use a light hammer, like a body hammer.
A brad is a small nail. THis should be a rivit-hollow in the center.
