The electric fan controller using the A9x series computer really doesn't work. I looked at the circuit diagram of the computer and tried the recommended test setup. I got zip, zero, zilch results. The circuitry inside the computer isn't powerful enough to drive a relay without an amplifier to boost the current. More importantly, the pin on the computer never changed states, no matter what the water temp was.
If you are an electronics whiz (2 year degree in electronics or an EE), send me you email address and I will send you the prototype drawings for a Pulse Width Modulation electric fan controller. I think it is as good as the DCControl unit that is almost impossible to get now days. Cost of the parts is about $65, so it isn’t cheap. I will not build or troubleshoot the controller, so you need some top level troubleshooting skills if it quits working or you wire it incorrectly.
