Remove plastic stuck to midpipe? Friday night I was driving back to the house and a plastic ice bag was being blown across the highway, I exited as soon as I could but some of it had already stuck. It's a thicker than most and when the pipes cool down it really hard.

Any suggestions taken, Thanks:SNSign:

Yeah, ur gonna have to scrape that with a spackle blade or wait till it heats up and do it. Doesnt take long for the midpipe to heat up. Thats rough man i always go well out of my way to dodge plastic bags. G'luck.

Paint thinner?
Alcohol?
or....
Start the car.
Let tail pipes heat up plastic.
Then, scrape it off with a towel.

Evidently, you don't realize that torches are commonly used to relieve the stress from corroded metal in order to free them? Using a torch on exhaust is common and you'll be sure to melt the plastic right off.

Heat gun plugs into a wall outlet, mang. Ever hear of electricity?

I had that happen to me with one of my old cars. Stunk like hell. It was only a small amount, not enough to remove, and I just let the crap burn off.

I would imagine that a small propane torch would definitely soften it up so you can scrape off as much as you can. Then just let the exhaust heat finish burning it off.

I have had this happen to myself. I used a wire wheel brush drill attatchment. Cleaned it off quickly.

Majority rules,

Looks like I'll use a torch, I had thought about letting the exhaust heat up the plastic enough to hit it with a rotory bit but I then thought about hot plastic being spun all over the place.


I appreciate the help guys.
