i am pushing about 500 hp in a ford 9" and am installing new gears. The car is going to be mostly driven on the street, but it will be taken to the track often, and driven hard so I want something that will work very well. I've never had a trac loc and was curious how well they lock up?

On a road course, the traction lock clutches wear out pretty quickly. Mine lost preload (a la pegleg) in about 5-6 open track events behind roughly the same horsepower as yours. That seems to be pretty common among others I've spoken to driving at similar tracks. I went with a True-trac this year, which seems to be working well (so far).

If you're asking about drag racing then, sorry, I don't know. Your post wasn't specific.

My choice would be a "Detroit Truetrac". No additives required in the rear end grease and no parts to wear out.

When I said "no parts to wear out" in my above post, I meant no clutches to wear out. The truetrac is much more durable than any posi that relies on clutches for it to operate.
