Me too. Only something's wrong with the sensor now and my remote starter won't work and I can't find anything in the friggin Haynes manual about replacing the emergency brake sensor and I am afraid to take my car to a ford dealer, so I am screwed for now.
Sorry for ranting.

If you leave your car in neutral and the E-brake fails, your car could run over someone AND F your car up. That's the way I'm reading it.

At least buy some chocks and chock the wheels if you are going to leave it in neutral overnight so you can use the remote starter. The extra minute of removing or placing the chock is better than the property damage or injuries your car could cause it if rolls

I trust my E-Brake about 63% of the time... It is amazingly weak, and even with a new set of pads, and drums, and proper adjustment routine, the E-brake SUCKS!

BTW... What is a Longhorn doing in Ohio?

A person is more likely to see a car rolling and jump out of the way. Whereas, if they are standing in front of it when it's in 1st gear and I remote start it, it's immediate hospital time as there is no time for reaction. Just think of the kind of torque that our cars have in 1st gear. Now imagine a car that stalls about 10 times in a row, jumping that much further and harder each time. You do the math.

I don't know how your driveway or parking space is setup, but if my car rolls it has the potential to kill someone as well. The slope of the driveway plus the blind curve coming from the rightside of my house would mean that a car coming around the bend at 35MPH would not see my car until it was right on top of it. Now if it rolled out at night you really wouldn't see it and would hit it head on.

The city I live in is FLAT. I used to live next to a hill...but that was over a year ago. I haven't parked on a hill for a long amount of time in a LONG time...or at least that I can remember.

I always just leave it in neutral with the parking brake on since a majority of orlando is flat and my parking brake works correctly. When it comes to parking on non level ground I will put it in either 1st or reverse just as an added precaution.

In order for the remote starter to work on a manual, you can't park it in gear. It has to be in neutral and the e-brake has to be engaged, or no remote start. That's a safety feature they have built in, so that you can't accidently remote start it while it is in gear.

You got teh double threat. Rolls backwards and run over somebody or leave it in first, try to start it and it starts bucking towards people.

I always leave my e-brake on and car in neutral. Been doing this ever since I got the car and never had a problem. My e-brake feels very strong and the car has never moved with it on, even on a steep hill. If the hill is steep enough, I'll put it in gear, but I've forgotten a few times and started the car with it in gear and let out the clutch without knowing. Not fun, especially when parked close to a wall.

I've always made it a habit to push in the clutch, wiggle the shifter in neutral and then start the car.

Then when i park, i pull up the E-brake, push in the clutch, put the shifter in R or 1st (2nd if on perfectly level ground), shut the car and then let up on the clutch.

That way by doing those steps every time i never forget to put it in gear or yank up the e-brake.

Ever read Charger forums? Not too brilliant over there either. Makes me really hate Dodge in general... more than I already did.

Wish I could remember which board it was... something generic like Charger.net.

nah, I'll have to check it out sometime when I want to be reminded of how superior cow **** is to anything built by Ford.

really, if for some reason you ever want to have the dumbfounded feeling (you know the one), just go over there and search "mustang" and read a few threads.
