Humm from black box

The little black box that is in between the IAC and the intake is making a loud whistle/humm noise. When I hold it I can feel the humming and if I move it around i can manipulate the noise making it louder, lower, it can sound like a trumpet if I put it in certain positions. I think the box is broken because the hoses seem fine. Do I actually need that thing? Thanks :SNSign:

most of the time when you have iac noises it's the valve itself. But you can try to replace the box and see if that helps.

ive seen em without it but its still prbly ur iac makin the noise

ok thanks for the replies. After much in depth research it SEEMS like the IAC is the cause. I will do some more diagnosing after my tests/papers are done.
