I'm taking care of a few wiring problems in the right kick panel and I removed my computer. Attached, from a P/O, was a Hypertech chip. This thing's a total piece crap, isn't it? I'd imagine it's not doing anything to help performance.

Hard to say I guess, you could maybe do some research on what calibration is in it. I think usually all they did was advance timing, maybe tweak fuel...?

All they do is advance timing. I put one in my Bronco and didn't feel any difference. IMO, all you have there is a fancy paper weight.

Well I already have timing set at 14 degrees. I don't know if it messes with fuel or not, my car has always been on the rich side.

It's worth a shot to run the car with and without it. See if there's any improvements in power and fuel efficiency

Yeah, I think that's what I'm going to do this week. Either way, I would feel like an idiot running this chip, just knowing that thing was in my car would bug the hell out of me.

unless it was custom tuned for specific engine changes, it's doing nothing.. I had a diablosport deltachip on mine in her EFI days and the car literally wouldn't run without it... deleted egr, modded O2 readings, things like that... but for just a general "performance" tune it wasnt worth piss on a fox
