I am considering buying a Hypertech Programer III, for my 04 GT. Anybody know if they truly produce real HP gains? Are they worth the money, or should I spend alomst $300 on something different. I did see on Horsepower TV a Hypertech programer add nearly 40 RHP to a stock 03 Cobra. I would be happy to get near that type of return for the money. Any comments will be appreciated.

i wouldnt use hypertech. i would tend to use another programmer that has custom tuning support or upgradability.

I have it on my 99 GT

You definitely notice a difference but I'm not sure how much I would have noticed if I had a manual 5 spd in the car. The biggest difference I could see/feel was the higher shift points (which is obvious). It's not a bad upgrade for the money though, and I have seen a few dyno numbers to prove results but like everything else, it's all relative.

you will get no where near 40hp. ~7-9 hp most likely from the results I have seen. mostly from timing.

I would not purchase the hypertech for a gt. I would consider it for a cobra as it has tunes for the the smaller pulleys but on gt I would look at other companies that offer more flexibilty.

Or you could take an empty shoe box and tie a string to it and then tie the other end to your ODB2 port and then pretend to press buttons on the shoe box while making some beeping noises!

Buy either Diablo or SCT. If you want to save some money, try the instructions above.

I think the programmers come in handy for things like speedo fixes and shift points for autos and a/f mixture control. I wouldn't depend on it to make you alot of power but it will help your car to run properly.

SCT is the only way to tune, all the others are a waste of money.
