YOU should be the one apologizing here.

Im sorry Mike, but i truly think he needs to be banned for a comment like "i feel bad for your kid having you as a parent"
What it comes down to is, thats parenting, we make them feel like terrible whenever they royally screw up so they never ever want to do something like that again, sometimes we need to do more, (when i skipped graduation to go to the dojo, sensei was honored that i did that, then kicked the **** out of me for doing something so stupid) I may not be a parent but i do have over 100 students from the ages of 4-17 that i have to deal with, sorry end rant

Now see, call me crazy but this is why my boy is going to be driving BEFORE he turns old enough to drive.

I've been driving since i was about 13 or so under the supervision of an adult, on farm land and logging roads etc. I don't think kids these days get nearly enough supervised seat time before they're given a license, and passing the test isn't enough IMO because they don't see any real world obstacles during that test. I also plan on getting my boy in my car and scaring the damned daylights out of him so hopefully the fear gets in him and he doesn't drive like a jackass.

thats how my dad taught me to drive, we took out my steps moms 86 vert and he scared the living **** out of me, driving backwards then wipping the car around forwards, drifitng turns etc, and i was only 12, really does help alot

I know I'm a hard azz parent. We work hard to raise the kids with values and morals. I have worked hard to give him and his brother a decent qaulity of life. I don't belive in hitting and have delt with alot of teenage bull from them . In the day's when I grew up parents hit and hit hard, you didn't cross the line or you got delt with period. I paid for his brother to go through drivers ed and took him out driving as well, then helped him purchase his first car. I planned on doing the same with this one since you do for one you do for teh other. My 16yo likes take the road of hard knocks, he would rather get burned rather than take your word that the flame is hot so he has been a chore at times.

This went further than just the car, He went through my nightstand drawers to find the keys. Therefore he was in my room going through my things while the wife and I where not home, he violated my space and my trust. I didn't go into it since I didn't feel the need at the time but I guess in this day and age you must. He brought the car back and took of to his friends, made up a huge lie about what happened before coming out with the truth. So yes this became much more than the car, it hurt me has a father on different levels that JohnnyRebel doesn't understand. I'm sorry but me dumping his clothes on the floor, etc. so he had to pick them back up aint sh#t compaired to what I really wanted to do and I'm not done. I still think he is damn lucky he didn't grow up in the old days or with his grandparents, my parents put the fear of god into me.

I have to agree with greensvt21 100%. I worked hard for my first car. My dad traded his car for it. I paid him back every cent that he spent to get it for me. I got it when I was 17 and am 21 now and still have it. I have to say that I feel to this day that my mom and dad would kick my a$$ if they found out I wrecked my 'Stang! My dad was a truck driver for the longest time so I learned the rules of the road from a master.

Now onto the point. With me being a parent I am dealing with all the bs that my parents had to put up with and it's not easy. Where I live there is nothing good for kids to learn. You do have to punish and sometimes hard, or else later in life you'll visit them in jail or worse. So when someone says I'm being to harsh I'm irritated. JohnnyRebel, I do believe you need to grow up and look at life realistically.
