I am tired of my Flowmasters. Suggestions?

I have 40's with BBK L/T and O/R H-pipe. I am torn between the Spintech, Borla, and Bassani. I am leaning towards the Spintech's since they make the most HP but I don't want something quiet at idle either. Anyone with experience with any of these mufflers please share some info. Thanks.

If you want a cat back that has a good tone and makes a noise at idle I would go with a mac cat back. Either 5.0 mustang or muscle mustang did a test on all the mufflers. The macs were in the top 3 as far as making power and they have the most affordable catback. The only thing that would keep me from going mac is if you are running a h pipe. They sound crappy with a h pipe, but if you have x pipe they sound real good.

I have a H-pipe so I see no need in getting a cat-back since I don't have emissions here.

I too got tired of the Flowmaster "drone", i went with the borlas, they are quieter at idle, and cruising, but sound great at full throttle!!!

Mike, are the Borlas louder than your old Flowmasters at WOT? Are the Sportsmans the loudeset muffler offered by Spintech?

swingline: check out www.spintechmufflers.com. pro-streets are the loudest "street legal" muffler they offer. but they also have a complete line of competition racing mufflers if you're looking to go EXTREME!

It seems their Sportsman muffler would be louder since it was designed a a race muffler and is their "premiere street muffler".

trust me... the Pro-streets are louder. they're half the size of the Sportsman Street mufflers and have half the "spin-traps".

take a look at the pro-shoot-out mufflers and you can see that they only have 3 traps where the Sportsmans have 6 or 7 (maybe even 8) traps.

Cool. Looks like I will be getting some Pro-Streets. Any idea how these will sound compared to my Flowmasters?

what kind of mods are you running?

spintechs sound less "muffled" than flowmasters. you'd get more of an "open header" type sound, crisper.

Only things that would affect the sound are Cobra upper/lower, E-Bay CAI, FRPP 65mm TB, BBK LT's and O/R H-pipe. I can't think of what else. I first had my Flowmasters open but just recently welded dumps on them. I don't really like the dumps but they still sound fine at WOT. Since I don't have a cam yet I want something that sounds the best I get at idle though.

there's a video floating around somewhere of a guy with Pro-streets running dumps. very loud and very mean!

with LT's and O/R H you should get a very distinctive idle.
