i beam vs h beam for 306

wondering about whats the better rod to get...h beam or i beam...
306 ford small block, approx 550 hp at the crank. looking to spin 6500 rpm.
h beam worth the weight penalty, and extra cash, or stick with lighter rod?

hmmmm.... So long as they're forged steel I doubt it would make any difference at all. particularly at just 550 FWHP. With that criteria, I think Id get the lightest forged steel rod I could get my hands on.

H beams will be stronger, but at 550, I's will do the job.

H beams are no stronger than I beams.

Use a good forged steel I beam and it will handle anything the H beam forged from the same stuff will, and will weigh considerably less.

What block?

Stock? If so then the I's will be fine becuase you'll crack the block before a rod.

Dart/R/World/ect? Then I would get H so you have room to grow.
