i took some pics of the bolts that broke. yes thats tape i did that so that dirt from the unfiltered air doesnt get in as much intill it gets fixed. how much do you think a shop would charge to fix this? could i do it my self somehow? how can i get that bolt out of the plastic intake without messing it up? forgot to add my car idles at 1600 when im in nutural when moving not stoped stoped its 900. also my check engine light came one and my car felt slower after that then it went off and its still feels slower so i reset the computer felt the difference intill the light came back on and it whent off again but still slow. i think its backing my timeing down can anyone confirm this?

Most likely your car is going into Limp mode when the check engine light comes on. Retards timing and changes A/F mixture til it gets fixed.

Now I gotta ask... How did you break the bolts?? Also is that a penny??

And Ive never tried to re thread a hole in plastic. Not enough bolt to get some vice grips on it?? Maybe a machine shop could drill n tap it for you.

a penny what you looking at? i dont have a penny on there. yea the thread broke off inside the intake. i dont need it rethreaded yet just need the old broken bolt to be reversed out how much you think they would charge?

I would try to fix it yourself because I shop will rape you. Take off the plenum (if you can) and try to tap those holes , you will probably need to drill out the old bolt first. Tapping new holes is a scary thing for me, and I have done it before, if you have never done it, and have nobody to help you...then maybe take it somewhere.

I did the same thing. On mine i just took the plenum off and a little bit of the bolt was still out and i used vice grips to twist the bolts out. but if there is not enough bolt coming out then i dont know.good luck

Im sorry in the third pic by where you have the hose pulled off, looks like a penny in the top bolt holding on the IAC. I guess its just a washer. Maybe its the pic or because Ive been staring at this computer screen all day at work...

lol yea it does look like a penny with a drilled hole. hay that would be kinda neat if someone took all there washers and drilled out a whole and used money instead that would be creative.i guess i should go buy some vice grips and see if i can get it done.

try a bolt extraction kit, they are like $20, you drill a hole in the bolt, then screw this tappered peice in the hole and turn it out...has worked like a charm everytime for me and saves you from having to re-tap the holes from drilling it all the way out...

Jesus, how any bolts did you break? Both of em on the EGR and one on the manifold?
The manifold holes are brass inserts that you might be able to find in a good hardware store. You'll likely need a bolt extraction kit for all these, regardless.
