Im ashamed to say it but i think it ruin my cobra, i dont like the whole odometer and tach reading differently afterwards thing. It ruins the fact that the car has original miles in the first place. It goes in the shop wednesday and i feel like calling GTR back and cancelling the swap for the 3:90s. somebody please tell me its going to be all right and that will not ruin the value of my beautiful car

its called a speed cal and you should prob. call and cancel that order anyways. dont waste your money on 3.90s. go AT LEAST 4.10s, but you really should go w/ 4.30s.

So your mechanic told you that the tach and odometer would just be incorrect after the gear install and to just deal with it?

You can easily correct the speedometer in your car and it will read correctly again.

Does your mechanic have a lot of experience with Ford rear ends? How much is he charging you, in American dollars?

I have the DM speed-cal and yes it will fix the speedo and odometer. So you are stressin' about something that is a easy fix.

Yeah it GTR of So Cal which is just 10 miles from my house and the guy seemed unsure of whether the tach would match up (he said it would be off 200 rpms) and that the odometer would read more total miles than actually driven... both are bogus and pissed me off

He also said that the speed cal would work perfect with 3:73s but the higher the gears the more incorrect it would be?????

you can easily adjust your speedometer with a speedcal or hypertech or other brand programmer. i have 3.90's and mine is dead on! i would be going to a different mechanic. and there is no reason that your tach would be off! that makes no damn sense at all. you could run 9.10 gears and your tach would still work perfectly

I thought that only the 99's and up you could use that speedcal... the older ones take the speedo gears (little plastic gears that slip in the side of the tranny)??
