I got a new job!!

Why no need in your situation? Are you not running enough boost. The little I have looked into superchargers I have liked the self-contained units better because they looked safer.

lol look at the mass hords of mustangs out there running around w/ vortech superchargers on them, very very few use any type of intercooler or aftercooler. Thats all the proof you need. The 3 core intercooled procharger is no more safer then my non intercooled Paxton Novi 2000

procharger may be self contained, but its still a centrifugical

Yeah but they lable it as a "self contained gear driven unit". Because it does not use oil to cool it down it in turn needs the intercooler. Procharger is the only SC company that includes an intercooler w/ there kits. KB, Paxton, Eaton, Vortech, Powerdyne all have models that dont use any type of cooling method through an inter or after cooler.

Would a Procharger putting out 12psi of inter-cooled boost not be safer than 12psi of boost coming from your Paxton or a Vortech?

right they all do, just that you fill the head unit on a procharger VS tapping the oil pan. I think alot of the head leaking issues that came from the P1SC's was due to overfilled head units.

one would be no safter then the other. I have 2 friends w/ 03 Cobras and there both putting out more then 10 PSI prob closer to 12-14 and neither of them have intercoolers. Granted its a diffrent type of SC then a Paxton or Procharger but high boost does not always require an intercooler. As long as the Paxton gets oil and stays fairly cool ( in supercharger standards ) then it wont matter how much boost I run w/ it I wont need an Intercooler. The Novi 2000 is rated up to 19 PSI of boost.

Today was the first day

Well, today was my first day. I must say, it kicked major ass. I was there for 10 minutes and my boss was like "hey, i need you to take that starter out of that chrysler and put the new one in". since im a gopher and mechanic, i get paid salaried instead of commision. that doesnt bother me at all seeing how i wont be getting the major paying jobs. and get this, they are giving me $10 an hour. that may not sound like a lot, but when you are a 17 year old kid with supercharger fantasies, you can almost hear the whistle in you ears. not to mention, another mechanic there also owns his own home improvement business and offered me a job there making $12 an hour. looks like this kid is going to be hitting up 2 jobs this summer....again. how exciting.

not for 94-95

and.....

there is a reason paxton is retricted in NMRA as to which size pulley they are allowed to use :D

no its a diffrent type of blower then a procharger. Procharger is a self contained unit ( no need to tap the oil pan) and gear driven. The Paxton is a centrifigual (SP) blower which requires the oil pan to be tapped for supercharger oiling and cooling. Centrifigual blowers dont require intercoolers, some have after coolers such as vortech but I dont like how it looks. No need for one so I dont plan on getting one.

Uhhh.... Procharger only makes centrifugal superchargers.

And just cause you dont "forsee" problems with your Novi does not mean it will not break. Im not trying to be negative, but only realistic. All superchargers spin up to around 45,0000-60,000 rpm. So not forseeing a failure is kind of optimistic.

Plus, the oil in the self-contained unit is usually cooler than from the engine(not to mention cleaner).

Not trying to start an arguement, just show both sides.

congrats man i know exactly how u feel i graduate high school tuesday it was awesome and graduation money is the stuff its but now i guess its the real world and no more playing around thats whats sucks lol

thanks a lot. i really enjoy working on cars. i hate clocking out at the end of the day bc its such a good environment. this summer, my boss is putting me full time, on commission. he says that im a lot better than he thought i would be. so i got my friend an internship (free work) bc he loves cars but doesnt know jack about them. finally i can say everything today is going my way. and to top it off, im finally being treated like the young adult that i am. when i worked at toyota, they treated me like a child.
