i was sitting in school traffic this morning and the dumptruck behind me started going before i did and ran into me.

he hit me not once.....but twice.

he said his foot slipped off the clutch.

where can i find some good, stock replacement parts?

i need a new hatch, rear bumper, and a new taillight.

he also screwed my exhaust up but i wanted new exhaust anyways.

anyways heres the pictures.

that sucks... as for the bumper, blue oval industries is relatively close to you to help on shipping... i believe there in VA and there pretty reasonable on prices... for the tail lights and hatch id look used...

I would take it to a body shop and have them take a look at it. You have way more damage then a bumper cover, tail light and hatch. The whole back of the car has been pushed in and there may be hidden damage. This is going to be expensive.

Thats screwed up!

So is the dude or his company gonna be paying for these parts of yours? And a new paintjob perhaps?

Try the salvage yard in the other post up near 1990! It looks loaded with parts.

I'm assuming his insurance is covering it? Don't waste time looking for parts, take it to a GOOD, REPUTABLE body shop that is recognized by the insurance company and have the damage professionally estimated/quoted. Who cares what you can find these parts for on the aftermarket, body shops will usually use the expensive stuff and if his insurance is covering it, who cares? That said, sometimes the insurance will just cut you a check for you to use how you see fit, so in that case I'd stretch the money as far as it can go.

Sorry about your luck, but I see it as an opportunity for fresh hardware at no cost to you.

I'm no expert on body work, but the momentum of that size of a truck is going to do more damage at even 5 mph than you'd probably expect. Its gonna ripple through the whole dang car probably.

I agree, get it checked out by a body shop.

It just depends sometimes. Like said above....sometimes they pay the shop directly, sometimes they'll cut you a check. More likely to cut you a check if the car is considered "totalled."

P.S....if the first body shop just says it needs a little bodywork and a paintjob....get a 2nd opinion. Not saying that you have any further damage....but you're better off getting everythign fixed now than realizing down the road other problems that you got screwed out of by your first and only quote.

Guys, stop freaking him out.

Your car does not look bad at all. Just go to the shop you like and let them hash it out. It will be close to a total because of paint so the car will prolly hit book value as far as repairs go. It would be better if the shop slightly low balled the insurance company then half way through decide they need more money cause then the ins is commited to it assuming the shop dosent get insaine.
At worst the pannel that the tail light bolt to might need some moving but nothing serious

By looking at the pics. As Laser SVT pointed out, the panel the tail lights are mounted to is buckled inwards and there's no telling what else is wrong without letting an expert look at it.

Make sure one of the quotes you get is from the local Ford dealer body shop. Even if you have no intention of using the Ford dealer, it is a good quote to have when you start negotiating.

When getting the estimates, I would also specify that you want OEM parts only. No aftermarket.

Good luck getting it fixed!!

That sucks, sorry about the accident, but it could be worse. Good thing the quarters aren't pushed in/out or buckled real good.

Didnt have your car in their database? It's only one of the most popular cars ford has sold.

On that note, some of those parts might be out of production. I believe they tend to cycle production with old parts. At least for GTs it's impossible to find body parts sometimes, LXs might be easier.

Sorry to hear about the accident. Doesn't look too bad though.

Get the quote with OEM parts (your body shop most likely will not be able to find any) and have the car fixed with aftermarket.

When I had my accident (not my fault), I got the quote with OEM (none local), and then used aftermarket. With the money I saved, I was able to get a few upgrades. Fiberglass hood, all new headlights.

Doesn't look bad, you should come out okay. If the other driver's insurance company tries to total you car. Make copies of all your receipts and bring them with you when the adjuster looks at you car.

I finally got a hold of the insurance company and they said that they were mailing a check tomorrow, 3 weeks and a day after the damn accident.

The reason it took so long is that the adjuster said that she couldnt get ahold of the driver of the dumptruck to hear his side of the story which doesnt make any sense.

She also said that she didnt have a copy of the police report which is stupid too.
